in an Uncertain World

GEOFFREY STYLES, Managing Director

GEOFFREY STYLES – Managing DirectorWith over 25 years of industry experience, Mr. Styles is widely known for his insights on the energy sector and its related commercial and environmental issues, along with his expertise in strategic and scenario planning. Since 2002 he has served as a consultant and advisor, helping organizations and executives address systems-level policy. Along with his extensive writing on the industry, this work leverages his informed-but-independent perspective, and objective assessment of current and emerging energy technologies and networks and the geopolitical, economic, security and sustainability factors that drive them. His views on energy have been quoted frequently by the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and Washington Post, and his internationally-recognized blog on the energy industry was named one of the "Top 50 Eco Blogs" by the Times of London.

These pursuits build on Geoff's 22-year career at Texaco, Inc., which culminated in his senior position on Texaco's leadership team for strategy development. This encompassed the global oil refining, petroleum products marketing, transportation and alternative energy businesses, along with global issues such as climate change and sustainable development. In this role, he applied scenario planning to key business problems throughout Texaco. Outcomes included a major alternative energy technology acquisition and the revamping of Texaco's climate change policy. Previous senior positions included leadership roles in alliance management, risk management, planning, commodity trading, and supply & distribution. He also served on NASA's Senior Management Oversight Committee for Space Solar Power.

Geoff earned an M.B.A from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering summa cum laude from the University of California at Davis.
